Minnesota's Sesquincentennial

The girls' celebrated Minnesota's birthday at the library last week. Here they are signing a card from our town to the governor.





This banner is traveling around the state throughout the year, spending a few days in each city.






We had birthday cake too.....little did we know that the icing would turn out tongues blue.....fitting I guess since "Minnesota" means land of sky colored waters!!!!!!

The girls sold cookies at the grocery store last Saturday at the local store and ran into their cousin H.




Greta finished her phonics book on Monday.

Greta's rat, Crunch died yesterday...the girls wanted a photo with him...this was taken two days before he passed on....the girls dealt with his death pretty well....they put five star stickers on his cage, one to represent each family member, to see him off. We have just finished reading the book Sounder, which was not a great choice at this time, they both struggled a bit with the ending in light of their own personal loss.



We had the pool completely to ourselves today!!!!!!!





Greta has learned that it is not really a very good idea to suck on empty water bottles as bruised lips make her mommy laugh and laugh.

I would say we have a bit of work ahead of us....delivering all these cookies. I'm glad we have recovered from our illness enough to accept the challenge!!!





Greta is teaching Sparky how to say her name, but so far, Sparky has not been very cooperative.

The girls went cross county skiing and tried out snowshoes for the first time yesterday. We had so much fun, and now we all want to buy some skis! Maybelle took off like she was born on those skis!!!!
