Pretty Red Wing

Up on Memorial Bluff, we could hear the calliope playing on the America Queen.

So we had a quick look at the astounding view and dashed down to the Levee Park.
 

where the calliope ceased playing upon our arrival. Lovely close up views of the Queen though,





Lunched on sushi at Sarkura. 

At the train station

and private car, the Hiawatha.

A local artist, Bill Habedank, carves these every year.

We loved the Malala pumpkin!!!!


We visited the Aliveo Military Museum




and Bay Point Park



And of course, the local humane society.

Railfanning

Only 8 miles from my home is the hamlet of Maple Springs...a view to the north grants one a mighty vista which includes an S curve of the rails. A great spot for any rail fan to watch trains. Here is the Amtrak Empire Builder #8 West bound for Chicago.
