Minnesota in January?

There are countless reasons why I LOVE educating my children at home, and this is definitely one of them! Unseasonable weather here in MN for the past few days has drawn us away from our lessons and into the great outdoors.

Yesterday, the temperature shattered all previous records.

The ice is thin near shore, but out a few feet is fine for walking on.

Some of the agates and fossils we found over a few days. Yesterday Mary Emeline found a huge hunk of petrified wood that is not in the photo.

Climbing the ice on the point.

Digging for agates.

Fun on a frozen pond.

Maiden Rock

We threw some rocks.....love the sound of them hitting the ice and sliding.
