Pileated Woodpecker

This Pileated Woodpecker has been hanging around our neighborhood for a while. I have heard him, but never seen him until recently. He has discovered a decaying stump in my front yard and now visits a few times a day to dine on beetle larvae and carpenter ants. I keep my camera ready by the door! They are gorgeous birds!!! They are non-migratory, mate for life, and usually remain in the same territory.
